FCL 35-Year Book Layout

FCL Builders tasked the Machine to design and print a 40-page book celebrating some of their best projects. The publication presented an opportunity to educate potential clients about creative solutions for big-box warehouse construction. “Building Outside the Box: celebrating 35 years of design build excellence” exhibits client testimonials, 54 project photos, 11 design build market categories, and 12 custom 3D illustrations.

For the illustrations, we first designed 11 vectorized icons to represent each category of the design build market: commercial and retail, sports and recreation, healthcare, hospitality, public facilities, office and corporate, data centers, cold storage and food processing, industrial and manufacturing, transportation, and warehousing and distribution. We then modeled and rendered a building block for each category. Finally, we produced a combined rendering featuring a cardboard box full of these market blocks, shown both inside the box and spilling outside the box.
