3D Visualizations for FCL Builders and Ghian Foreman

About This Project

FCL Builders hired the Machine to develop presentation materials for a client looking to secure investment capital and municipal approval for a possible development project. Ghian Foreman, a South Side Chicago developer passionate about bringing growth to the community, needed complex visualizations to sell his concept: converting a historic South Side building into a data center.

We generated two complex 3D visualization projects that quickly and simply communicated a host of information at a glance.

A bird’s-eye view rendering cuts away to the building interior and yard, exposing servers, generators, cooling towers, transistors, switchgear, and loading banks, composited with a photo of the Chicago skyline to show the site’s proximity to downtown Chicago. Shown here for reference is a photo of the abandoned Schulze Baking Company building, surrounded by scaffolding to protect pedestrians from crumbling debris.

A low-resolution 3D model geocoded within GoogleEarth provided a real-time, interactive digital experience. This afforded flexibility to show multiple angles of the development at varying distances from the building, as well as the building’s proximity to main highways, plus downtown Chicago, major hospitals, and other points of interest which all demand a close source for their data.
